Your files. Your device.
Updated 8 October 2026Image processing
VTrace converts images on your device using your browser. Your image files, cropped copies, palette changes, and generated results are not uploaded to a conversion server. They are held in this tab's memory and are cleared when you close or refresh it. Download your work before leaving.
Network requests and storage
The website downloads its application code and tracing engine from the hosting provider. Like other websites, that provider may receive your IP address and basic request information to serve the site and protect its infrastructure. VTrace adds no analytics, advertisements, accounts, or tracking cookies.
If you enable background removal, your browser downloads the BiRefNet Lite model from Hugging Face (approximately 183 MB). The AI runtime files are served by this website. Hugging Face and its delivery providers receive normal network request information, including your IP address. They do not receive your image from this application. The model may be cached by your browser; you can clear it using the browser's site-data settings. Standard tracing does not need that model.
Your artwork
The application does not claim ownership of your images or results. Use images you have permission to use. Vectorization is an approximation: inspect the result before using it for print, cutting, or other precision work. SVG, PDF, and EPS downloads contain vector paths. PNG downloads are raster images.
